SERENDIPITY COOKIE & TRACKING POLICY

1. SUMMARY

This cookie policy explains what cookies are and how Serendipity, Inc ("Serendipity", "we", "us" or "our") uses them on our website at https://serendipity.app/ and Mobile Applications. We encourage you to read the policy in full so that you can understand what information we collect using cookies and how that information is used.

We only deploy non-essential cookies if you give your explicit consent via our cookie banner. You can usually change the settings of your browser to modify the permissions you give to us and third parties for the storing of and gaining access to cookies on your device. This cookie policy is in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which provides details on how we use cookies and the data collected from it, along with a way to opt-out. Please become familiar with that policy as well, as it pertains to your rights involving the collection of your personal data.

2. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are pieces of code that allow for personalization of our website experience by saving your information such as user ID and other preferences. A cookie is a small data file that we transfer to your device's hard disk (such as your computer or smartphone) for record-keeping purposes. Mobile tracking identifiers like IDFA and GAID are similar to web cookies.

3. HOW LONG WILL COOKIES STAY ON MY BROWSING DEVICE

The length of time a cookie will stay on your browsing device depends on whether it is a "persistent" or "session" cookie. Session cookies will only stay on your device until you stop browsing. Persistent cookies stay on your browsing device after you have finished browsing until they expire or are deleted.

4. FIRST AND THIRD PARTY COOKIES

4.1 "First party cookies" are cookies that belong to us and that we place on your device. "Third-party cookies" are cookies that another party places on your browsing device when you visit our site and mobile application.

4.2 Third parties setting cookies from our website will be providing a service to us or a function of the site but we do not always control how third party cookies are used. You should check the third party's website for more information about how they use cookies.

5. WHAT COOKIES DO WE USE ON OUR WEBSITE?

5.1 We use the following types of cookies:

(a) Strictly necessary cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website.

(b) Analytical/performance cookies. They allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily. We may use third-party analytics tools such as Google Analytics, to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the Online Services and to understand more about the demographics of our users. You can learn more about Google’s practices at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and view its currently available opt-out options at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

(c) Functionality cookies. These are used to recognize you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalize our content for you and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).

(d) Advertising cookies. These cookies are used to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They remember that you have visited a website and this information may be shared with other organizations such as advertising partners. This means after you have been to our site you may see some advertisements about our services elsewhere on the internet.

(e) Social media cookies. In order to enhance your internet experience and to make the sharing of content easier, some of the pages on our website may contain tools or applications that are linked to third party social media service providers such as Facebook, Twitter or Google+. Through these tools or applications the social media service provider may set its own cookies on your device. We do not control these cookies and you should check the social media service provider’s website for further details about how they use cookies.

5.2 The Annex contains more information about the cookies we use and how long they remain on your device.

6. HOW TO MANAGE COOKIES FROM OUR WEBSITE

The cookies we use are designed to help you get the most from the website but if you do not wish to receive cookies, most browsers allow you to change your cookie settings. Please note that if you choose to refuse cookies you may not be able to use the full functionality of our website. These settings will typically be found in the "options" or "preferences" menu of your browser. In order to understand these settings, the following links may be helpful, otherwise you should use the "Help" option in your browser for more details.
